The most recent survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, in the Portuguese acronym) shows that 55.5% of students in the 9th grade had already tried some kind of alcoholic beverage. Of these, 21.4% had experienced symptoms of drunkenness.
With these growing numbers in mind, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), in a partnership with the National Secretariat of Drug Policies, of the Ministry of Justice, today develops an educational project with the goal of promoting health and alcohol and drug prevention in schools.
The proposal aims to mobilize students, teachers and health workers in such a way as to build knowledge regarding the danger of using these substances and their prevention, with continuous preventive education actions.
