The Centers for Psychosocial Care (CAPS) are part of an important strategy of the Unified Healthcare Unit (SUS) for the proper following and treatment of patients with chronic mental conditions. Since 2014 Fiotec has been helping in the administrative management of CAPS by means of a project carried out by the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública Sergio Arouca (National School of Public Health; Ensp/Fiocruz).
The structure offers interdisciplinary care consisting of a multiprofessional team made up of physicians, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and other specialists. The service is differentiated for children and teenagers (up to 17 years old), by means of CAPSi, and for people with alcohol and drug addictions, by means of CAPSad.
