The New Center for Final Processing (NCPFI) at Bio-Manguinhos will be a modern biotechnology center in the industrial district of Santa Cruz in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The site was chosen after prospecting municipalities in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Ceará, and Minas Gerais.

The project will allow Brazil to significantly expand its supply of strategic products like vaccines and pharmaceuticals for the public health system. The new facility will manufacture 600 million doses of vaccine per year.

The objective is to expand the population’s access to high quality products, while regulating prices, besides guaranteeing maintenance of the National Immunization Program (PNI).
