In a partnership with the Department of Pharmaceutical Assistance (DAF in the Portuguese acronym), the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) will be contributing with initiatives to stimulate the use of medicinal plants and phytotherapy in the Unified Health Service (SUS). The goal is to ensure to the Brazilian population safe access and use of these plants, to develop the national industry.

In order to implement the policy, the National Program of Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy will train SUS health professionals regarding the prescription and use of these remedies, described in the National List of Essential Medicines (Rename), criating a new mindset and making them accessible for the population.
