According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in 2017 Brazil had more than 26 million inhabitants above 60 years of age. As these numbers grow, the project developed by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), with the support of Fiotec, has the goal of developing strategies to strengthen healthcare policies for the elderly.

One of the proposals is the elaboration of tools to help managers in their decision-making process, consolidating the Healthcare Policy for the Elderly in areas where it is already in force. The project will also work on technical documents, which will gather clinical guidelines for the main geriatric syndromes.
