Itinerant exhibit project, “Biodiversity and Health”, of Farmaguinhos is sponsored by Fiotec - Fiotec

The itinerant exhibit project, “Biodiversity and Health”, developed by the Institute of Technology in Pharmacons (Farmaguinhos/Fiocruz), sponsored by Fiotec, has the objective of strengthening the performance of Education and Health activities directed at the school community of Cidade de Deus. The idea is to emphasize on the importance of conserving the biodiversity of Brazilian ecosystems for public health and for the production of pharmacons. This emphasis will be given by means of exhibits on the topic.

With an estimated duration of ten months, the project is divided into three stages:study and development of the exhibit’s thematic content; selecting, hiring, and training monitors and coordinators of the exhibit; and planning, logistics, disclosing, and carrying out the exhibits on Biodiversity and Health.

The exhibit will have two themes:The first one will cover the emergency regarding infectious and contagious diseases, which puts into evidence an environmental imbalance. With respect to the second theme, the importance of preserving biodiversity will be emphasized, more precisely the plants for producing medicines.

Access Difficulty

The schools of Cidade de Deus have difficulty in giving students access to cultural and scientific spaces existing in various regions of the city.Aspects such as the limits of family nature as a result of their financial situation and lack of transportation to take the students to these locations are some of the obstacles.Through the proposed exhibitions it will be possible to give all students from all schools a relevant knowledge of the relation between environmental preservation and health.
