Young Apprentice Program of Fiotec is a successful reference of the insertion of youth in the market - Fiotec

“Fiotec is a step ahead of other companies in conducting the Young Apprentice Program. The work is brilliant", said Monica Chagas, representative of the Center for Company-School Integration (CIEE). She is responsible for the theoretical training of the participants and the monitoring of the program. The words were spoken at a meeting held at the registered office of Fiotec on 6/12. Currently, the institution has 19 hired young apprentices.

The program is aimed at the preparation and insertion of young people aged 14-24 with no professional experience in the labor market. Currently, there are over 7,000 young apprentices in Rio de Janeiro. The program has had more than 100,000 young people trained in Brazil, more than 10,000 participating companies. "The focus is on training, learning opportunity. Youth must be able to work in any organization", said Monica.

Program methodology

The program in Fiotec works as follows: young people are hired for a one month course at CIEE. After that, they get contact with all sectors of the institution, guided by a collaborator in charge. "The young apprentice program was created from a legal necessity and adaptation related to a previous internship project. But the idea that they could learn a little in each area came after a meeting of the Human Resources area with the Logistics manager Carlos Fernandes Abreu, "said Aline Caputi, one of the collaborators responsible for the idealization of the program.

At the meeting held last month, all guiding collaborators were present. One of them was Mauro de Jesus, in charge of guiding the program in the area of Quality Management. According to the collaborator, young apprentices are taking a chance that most of the collaborators did not have, which is to get contact with all areas of Fiotec and see in practice how processes flow. "Furthermore, the education of citizens committed to the institutions is essential to the employability of these future professionals," said Mauro.

The methodology is a two-way street, because experience with young people is a learning experience for collaborators. "We hope that the guiding collaborators use this moment to also enhance their teaching, because teaching is also a way to develop our skills," said Aline.

Apprentice of life

The results of a well done guidance job can only be achieved if there is mutual interest between the advisor and the young apprentice. Ananda Cantarino is keen to show that, for her, this opportunity will be very well used. "I'm trying to take advantage of everything I can, in a way that is not just momentary. Young apprentice is not just my occupation. It is also what I am. I believe that being young is unwittingly to be an apprentice of life. And I learned a lot", said Ananda.
