Fiotec is, for another year, a Carioca culture promoter through the Service Tax Law - Fiotec

For the third time in a row, Fiotec achieved the certification as Carioca Culture Promoting Taxpayer, now for the year of 2016. This makes the institution able to sponsor projects aimed at culture in the city of Rio de Janeiro, by using the collection of the Service Tax (ISS).

Every service provider institution organized in Rio de Janeiro and meeting the requirements included in the notice can register to be qualified as Promoting Taxpayer and sponsor projects with visual arts, handcraft, audiovisual, libraries, cultural centers and others.

Basic sponsorship

The sponsorship proposal with the ISS collection was presented to Fiotec by Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC), through the Catchment Office. Up to this year, 13 cultural projects in the city were supported by Fiotec, representing approximately BRL 2.2 million. Some projects repeat every year, as the Fluminense Property Week, that is in its 5th edition, three of which being supported by Fiotec.

“Some of the projects worked only because they had Fiotec as sponsor, as in the case of ‘Mandela is Alive Cultural Agenda’. It was great finding the foundation as main investor, as it is working really well”, said Luís Fernando Donadio, ODC Catchment Officer.

The period for receiving proposals to be sponsored through the Culture Promotion Law is in the months of January and February every year.

Sponsored projects

“Mandela is Living Cultural Agenda” will create a calendar of artistic features in the communities of the Manguinhos Complex occurring in 2016. The agenda is trying to complement the public investments made in the region through cultural valuation.

Held every year because of the Cultural Property National Day, celebrated on August 17, the purpose of the “Fluminense Property Week” is promoting the valuation of the state’s natural and cultural property and expanding the population’s awareness of its property in its most different expressions. In addition to the fixed events, a public call is held for selecting cultural presentations proposed by independent artists or cultural groups, to be performed in one of the regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
