Institution that meets the requirements and fits into the condition of company with corporate social and environmental responsibility: this is the organization profile of Fiotec for five consecutive years. The institution was granted the fifth Corporate Citizen Certificate at a granting ceremony held last Wednesday (11/23) in the auditorium of the State Trade Federation of Rio de Janeiro (Fecomércio-RJ).
The technical advisor, Emilia Wien, represented Fiotec at the ceremony. The title is awarded by the Regional Accounting Board (CRC-RJ), in partnership with Fecomércio-RJ, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and FIRJAN System. This year, 55 companies out of the 61 project participants have been awarded such title.
The counselor and coordinator of the Corporate Citizenship Project, Jorge Ribeiro, the director of Fecomércio, Natan Schipper, along with the vice president of CRC-RJ, Samir Nehme, director of FIRJAN System, Sergio Yamagata, and professor at UFRJ, Araceli Ferreira composed the board.
The smaller number of organizations awarded this year may reflect the assessment that has been made to scrutinize the certificate award criteria. Further discussion with the aim of giving more transparency to the project actions, has been defended by Araceli from the 2015 edition of certification.
Criteria used
Created in 2002, the certificate aims to encourage the improvement of the quality of accounting and environmental information published in annual reports of organizations of all sizes, sectors and regions of Brazil. According to Araceli Ferreira, who coordinates the evaluation of winning companies, the first methodology used by the group was from the Brazilian Institute for Social and Economic Analyses (IBASE). Later, the methodology of the Ethos Institute came to be used and now the assessment is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework.
