Fiotec renews its title of Public Interest for two more years - Fiotec

The title of Public Interest granted to Fiotec has been renewed for the years 2021 and 2022 by the Secretary’s Office of Social Development and Human Rights of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The certificate ensures the acknowledgement that the institution works without profits and provides services to the society, in addition to conferring appropriateness within the state.

To apply, the institution must account for the two previous years, describing in figures the impact it generated for the society. Four projects were selected to illustrate these results, all following criteria that prove the contents of the work developed and that were in force during those two years.

Among the selected projects are the two phases of the Marielle Franco Dictionary of Favelas, a virtual library that stimulates the collective construction of existing knowledge regarding favelas in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. Another selected project was related to the Covid-19 pandemic; its goal is to facilitate the diagnosis of the disease. A Community Health course was also selected.

After the evaluation of the results of these projects, it is possible to construct the report, and the document is, then, sent to the Special Coordination of Public Interest up to September 15, every two years. According to Bruna Moraes, of the Governance and Quality Management, this year’s main differential was the respect to the processing of personal data of people involved in the projects, in accordance with the Data Protection General Law (LGPD).

Different Fiotec areas are mobilizing for this renewal. Moraes states this work is carried out in an integrated fashion and relies on different teams.

This title ensures countless benefits for Fiotec and the projects it supports, and also has a positive impact on the image of the institution, as the certificate acknowledges the effort generated through the Fiotec-Fiocruz partnership for the state of Rio de Janeiro.

“The title represents this acknowledgment that Fiotec works by helping society with what it needs, emphasizing the role of the institution in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Sometimes we do not have a clear idea of what Fiotec does, and it is very interesting to realize that; we can see how relevant our work is, also because Fioccruz would not be able to do any of this work without our support”, says Moraes.
