Fiotec’s Internal Committee for Professional Insertion for People with Disabilities (Ciip) held a virtual meeting on December 14, this time for an accountability process with the members of the Coppetec/UFRJ project. The 4th Ciip Training Day was attended by professionals from Coppetec, from the UFRJ Training Laboratory and by members of the Committee itself.
Between June and December 2022, five meetings were held to organize the Committee. They introduced Ciip to Fiotec professionals and helped identify the best arrangement for the initiative within the internal organizational chart. The STAR task was used for this purpose: Situation, Task, Action, and Result to be expected.
The Ciip meetings addressed autonomy as a path towards personal and social change in the conduction of concrete actions for the qualified professional insertion of people with disabilities. The subject made it possible for PWDs to reflect on what it means to be autonomous, as individuals that make advancements over personal and social conditioning, plan and respond for the consequences of their own actions.
During the meetings, differences were observed about statutes, regulations and norms. In addition, discussion rounds were incentivized to exchange experiences and opinions, focusing on the attending PWDs.
At the last 2022 meeting, People Management professional Paolla Miranda commented on the protagonist of deaf people who work at Fiotec and who, after the elaboration and dissemination of the actions proposed at the Ciip meetings, said the feeling of belonging among them increased.
Based on this thought, a reflection was proposed on “what it means to be responsible for a process that will have an impact on other people”. Andreia Fonseca, Logistics professional and person with disabilities, said the initiative has transformed her: “For the first time ever, I can see my perspective has value. This narrative that we suffer in the job market can be made different. This is a huge challenge, but it’s also very rewarding. I hope other companies and other deaf people can experience this”. Fonseca is one of the project’s coordinators at Fiotec.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between Fiotec and UFRJ, by means of its Training Laboratory and its support foundation, Coppetec. The idea is that the Committee analyzes needs and demands in social and technical work relations, especially when it comes to the relationship between non-diagnosed people and PWDs, building a joint legacy with other support foundations and universities.
