Fiotec teams undergo training on the European Commission program - Fiotec

Professionals from Fiotec's International Projects sector participated, on January 25, in a training focused on the new financing and management program of the European Community, focusing on the 2021-2027 Horizon Europe Program. The training was given by International Project analyst Nina Fernandez y Fernandez.

During the meeting, Nina presented the update of funding lines, budget and rules. According to her, with the changes in the Program, there are new funding opportunities for research in partnership with Fiocruz that may arise in the coming years.

She says that to ensure effectiveness in the processes carried out within Fiotec, it is important that the entire International Project team, from Initiation to Accountability, is up to date on the rules and modus operandi of this type of financing. “The objective of the training was to share this knowledge with the entire team, seeking synergy between the areas and excellence in the complete management of projects”, Nina says.

The training also addressed the history of the funding program, presenting the new research and innovation plan, in addition to the submission processes, contracts and available funding modalities. It was also possible to discuss the particularities of the budget, as well as the accountability and audits that are carried out.

About the Program
The European Commission is steered by a group of 27 Commissioners, known as 'the college’. Together they take decisions on the Commission's political and strategic direction. The pillars led by the Commission include the Financing Program for Research and Innovation, which serves the common interests of the European Community.

The EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for the period 2021-2027 has a budget of around 95 billion euros for research and technological development initiatives and projects with added value to the continent. In this new phase, there are three fields of study. Horizon Europe is the only one that is dedicated to external submissions.

Horizon Europe promotes easier access to platforms, more coherent evaluation processes and a more fluid management of submissions. Fiotec fits into Pillar 2 – Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness within this program, which aims to boost key technologies and solutions to support the Commission's policies and its objectives in regional and global development.
