Fiotec’s International Purchasing Coordinator, Elisângela Bevitori, accompanied representatives of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) during a visit to Fiocruz’s Manguinhos-Maré campus, on April 27. Valeska Medeiros, the entity’s Chief of Imports Service, visited the Diagnostic Technology Laboratory (Lated) of Bio-Manguinhos and at the Protein Biochemistry Laboratory, of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC).
In the company of CNPq analyst José Iran Sousa, Medeiros verified whether the visited areas were the same ones described in the Import Declaration, and whether the lab equipment was being used according to the purpose stated in their Import Licences. Each machine had its serial number and manufacturer checked. Bevitori said that Fiotec was responsible for acquiring the equipment for both laboratories, using the institution’s expertise in importing goods and consumables for research.
Medeiros and Sousa also got to know Fiotec’s headquarters and part of their International Purchasing team. The sector has grown and faced new challenges since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, with a considerable increase in the volume of imports by the institution.
