Representatives of the Dutch funder attest the technical capacity of Fiotec in a visit to the head office - Fiotec

Representatives of Radbound University, from Netherlands, visited Fiotec at the beginning of July, to know its structure, processes and systems used on the working days. The idea was to attest the technical capacity of the institution when it comes to administrate resources aimed at the development of new treatments for pulmonary tuberculosis.

In addition of Rutger Spoor and Hamza Hbil, the researchers Margareth Dalcolmo and Valéria Rolla attended to the meeting, accompanied by Fiocruz’s professionals. This would be one of the teams responsible for the development of the project in our country, which would have the participation of other Brazilian institutions.

Nina Fernandez is part of Fiotec’s International Projects team and was one of the professionals to welcome the partners. According to her, the visit was an important step in the negotiations to form the consortium. “We were visited with the intention of attesting our ability to manage the project and they left suggesting that we should hold workshops to share our knowledge with other less experienced partners, from Brazil and abroad”, celebrated the analyst. Together with Nina, André Aguiar, also from Fiotec’s International Projects team, and Eliza Faria, Exchange coordinator at the institution, also participated.

The consortium of which Fiotec and Fiocruz would be part of, will be formed by partner institutions from 12 other countries, in a collective effort to fight the disease that is among the 10 main causes of death caused by infectious agents. The researches developed will aim at improving the methodologies of clinical tests for the detection of tuberculosis, making prevention and treatment measures more efficient.
