Fiotec’s legal manager, Marianna Magalhães, was present in the Meeting of the College of Attorneys of the National Board of the Support Foundations for Higher Education and Scientific and Technological Research (Confies), on April 24th and 25th, in Cuiabá/MT. The event was hosted by Fundação Uniselva in 2024, which gathered around 70 participants.
In addition to representatives of support foundations from all of Brazil, the Meeting also received guests from the Prosecution Offices of the States of Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro (MPMT and MPRJ). In his opening speech, Joanis Tilemahos Zervoudakis, professor and director of Fundação Uniselva, emphasized the importance of the support foundations in the development of science and technology in the country.
The president of Confies, Antônio Fernando Queiroz, began the schedule of the Meeting online, debating the amendments to PL (Bill) 1658/2022, regarding support foundations. Throughout the two days, many aspects were discussed, such as veiling support foundations, tax exemption and taxes on grants; fellowship issues on E-Social; application of Law 14.133/21, on general public tender and contracting for public institutions; in addition to LGPD (General Data Protection Law), integrity and compliance.
“The most important thing is seeing how the College has been becoming more relevant, as this year we had meetings with two foundation promoters, with representatives from [institutions and universities] supported and over 60 participants. That shows how relevant the meeting is,” celebrates Marianna, who integrated one of the round tables in the event.
