Fiotec's legal manager, Marianna Camargo, was one of the guests at the event Interactions between Private Foundations and the Public Prosecutor's Office, held at the beginning of May at the BMA Advogados office, in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting discussed the challenges in the relationship between foundations and governmental entities, mainly due to the lack of promoters with experience in foundational law.
The objective of the event, according to Chico Müssnich, was to deepen the relationship between foundations and the Public Prosecutor's Office, identifying what converges between the institutions. Following the opening speech by the founding partner of BMA Advogados, Marianna was one of the representatives to report the difficulties of finding places with similar issues. “We have this lack of spaces to discuss foundations”, she argued.
José Marinho, curator of foundations at the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro, highlighted that “the state is the largest foundation hub in Brazil, with 300 foundations, and generates more than 20 billion Reais. Despite this astronomical movement, in Rio de Janeiro there are only 3 prosecutors who take care of this. Of the 900 members, only 3 study foundational subjects." The prosecutor is one of the guests on the external season of the podcast Conecta Fiotec, with episodes already available on the institution's YouTube channel.
Also participating in the debates were Ana Flávia Cabral (Executive Vice-President of Brazilian Symphony Orchestra Foundation), Flavio Barbarulo Borgheresi (Legal Director of Butantan Foundation) and José Guilherme Berman, partner at BMA Advogados.
