Fiotec takes professionals to Belo Horizonte for benchmarking at Fundep - Fiotec

Representatives from different areas of Fiotec traveled to Belo Horizonte/MG for benchmarking meetings with the UFMG Support Foundation, Fundep, on May 20th and 21st. The main idea of the meeting was to share experiences about the processes adopted by foundations, identifying opportunities for improvement in project management.

Jaime Ramírez, Elizabeth Silva and Walmir Caminhas, president and directors of Fundep respectively, were responsible for opening the meeting, presenting results achieved by the foundation and its organizational structure. The managers shared the guidelines that guide the institution's recent operations, in which the projects carried out must combine speed with safety; simplified processes; and aim to be the best foundation in serving that Science and Technology Institution (STI). Unlike Fiotec, which only serves Fiocruz, Fundep, in addition to UFMG itself, manages projects for 10 other STIs.

During the two days, discussions addressed the process automation adopted by Fundep, integrating end-to-end project management. The workflows adopted in acquisitions, purchases and system development were also presented and discussed, always with the possibility of measuring the results achieved.

Washington Gutemberg, coordinator of National Acquisitions at Fiotec, saw the possibility of implementing some dynamics adopted by Fundep in the institution: “the foundation's purchasing team is organized by cells, according to specific groups of goods/services, side by side with the professionals who work in what we classify at Fiotec as 'purchase monitoring'. Here [at Fiotec], we organize these processes between two different teams, but defining the flow in a single line would make our work much easier.”

In addition to Washington, linked to Fiotec's Logistics management, professionals from the institutional Board of Directors and the Project, Information Technology, People Management and Financial and Accounting Administration teams participated in the meeting.
