Fiotec represented the support foundations during the III FGV Social Responsibility Seminar, held on September 30 at the Cultural Center of Fundação Getúlio Vargas itself, in Rio de Janeiro. The event discussed topics and techniques relevant to management, governance, tax and regulatory issues, as well as the institutional development of third sector entities.
In the midst of a program that discussed private investment in social initiatives, alternatives to reduce school dropout in Brazil, circular economy and climate change, as well as the health and well-being of women in social vulnerability, the panel "Social responsibility in Tax Reform" invited Fiotec's legal manager, Marianna Camargo, to share the impact of the legislation on the work done by the support foundations. The manager stressed the importance of the tax immunity guaranteed to these foundations, in their support for health research and innovation institutions, as is the case of Fiocruz. According to Marianna, the volume of resources saved thanks to the exemption from paying certain taxes is directed directly to the research projects themselves, boosting their development and bringing faster results to the population.
"It is important that we actively participate in this type of event to show the reality and performance of the support foundations and, of course, the projects we support", pointed out Marianna. On the panel, the attorney was next to Marcus Abraham, Judge of the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region; Luiz Gustavo Bichara, Tax Attorney of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association; and Maurício Neves, Special Advisor to the Presidency of Fundação Educacional Severino Sombra and Professor at FGV.
In addition to the invitation to contribute during the Seminar program, Fiotec was able to expose some of its social action in a booth gathering institutional materials that presented the actions and initiatives related to the theme of the event. The Fiotec booth was represented by Juliana Freitas, social worker, Luanara Damasceno and Christianne Barbosa, manager and analyst, respectively, of Governance, Sustainability and ESG. The Executive Director, Cristiane Sendim, honored the entire event, corroborating Fiotec's commitment to social responsibility.
