Innovating fundraising: Fiotec takes part in the ABCR Festival - Fiotec

The 17th edition of the largest fundraising event in Latin America took place on June 16th and 17th in São Paulo and was attended by Fiotec professionals. ABCR Festival 2025 was the stage for strategic connections and important debates about the future of resource mobilization in Brazil and around the world.

This year's theme was "Innovating Fundraising" and according to Adrielly Faria, Project Initiation analyst, the subject was really included in every lecture on the schedule: "one of the highlights for me was the debate on strategic mobilization in emergencies, which brought practical examples of how organizations have managed to respond quickly to humanitarian crises, connecting donors, technology and local solutions. I came back with the certainty that investing in knowledge, exchange and coordination is essential for those who work with social impact."

The Festival also discussed fundraising on a global level, in the lectures "International fundraising" and "Latin American panorama of fundraising". Gabriela Arruda, a member of Fiotec's International team, highlights the lessons learned about the importance of regional cooperation to promote funding for Brazil and neighboring countries. "The discussions served to expand our minds in terms of drawing up strategies for a culture of fundraising at Fiotec, adapting what we learned to our reality. It was a very light and dynamic experience, with the opportunity to see various relevant issues being debated on stage and off stage - especially during the networking moments," she says.

By taking representatives to the event, Fiotec is positioning itself at the center of important reflections on the fundraising scenario in the third sector. As a support foundation, however, it is essential to translate all this information into the reality of the institution, taking into account its specific legal nature. Juliana Cohen, an analyst who is also part of the Project Initiation team, is the one who makes this warning. "Events like this remind us of how far Fiotec has come in this area, but at the same time show how much we can learn from different initiatives that often give voice to groups that are more distant from our reality."

Enhancing your role in shared project management
In 2025, Fiotec stepped up its efforts to raise funds to be used by Fiocruz researchers for research and studies on a wide range of topics. The institution offers direct assistance in submissions to open calls for proposals from national and international funders, supporting these researchers in using the platforms and gathering all the required documentation.

The institution's position is in line with one of Fiocruz's current guidelines, aimed at expanding the Foundation's international presence. This process of internationalizing activities has also become one of Fiotec's main ambitions under its current management.
