The International AIDS Society (IAS) has announced that Rio de Janeiro will host the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026) from July 25th to 30th next year. For the first time in South America, the conference will take place in a hybrid format (face-to-face and virtual) and is expected to bring together between 7,000 and 10,000 participants from all over the world, including health experts, researchers, activists and people living with HIV.
The event marks an important moment in the global fight against HIV/AIDS, with only four years left to fulfill the goals set by the UN by 2030. The conference will bring together world leaders, the scientific community and civil society to debate innovative solutions, public policies and the current challenges of the epidemic.
Fiotec’s Support
Fiotec will be a supporter of AIDS 2026, working directly to organize the event in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Fiocruz. Lidiane Lima, coordinator of International Projects, the team responsible for managing the project within Fiotec, emphasizes that the moment is one of great pride and responsibility.
"I'm very proud to see Fiotec supporting AIDS 2026. This is an important achievement that reinforces Brazil's role in combating HIV/AIDS and promoting science and global health. The International Projects team is directly involved in the construction of this event, working together with all the Foundation's departments. I would especially like to highlight the commitment of the Purchasing team, which will be key to making logistics possible and ensuring that everything happens in the best possible way," said Lidiane.
AIDS 2026 will be an opportunity to highlight Brazil's leading role in the response to HIV, give visibility to neglected populations in Latin America and reaffirm commitments to access to health, equity and scientific innovation.
Registration will open in November 2025. More information is available at http://www.aids2026.org.
