On March 20, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) held a meeting that brought together representatives of support foundations from across the state to exchange experiences and discuss possible solutions for the sector. The initiative was led by the Foundations Prosecutor’s Office of the institution, which organized the meeting according to the thematic areas of the invited organizations. Fiotec was one of the participating foundations, represented by its Technical Director, Vanessa Costa, and Legal Manager Marianna Magalhães.

The discussions, which also included representatives from Coppetec (Foundation for Projects, Research and Technological Studies), FEC (Euclides da Cunha Foundation), and FACC (Foundation for the Support of the Development of Scientific Computing),

addressed topics directly present in the daily work of support foundations, such as scholarship issuance processes, tax reform, and relationships with oversight bodies. “For us, it is always important to exchange experiences with other foundations, as it gives us the opportunity to improve our work and at the same time contribute to the debate by bringing what we have already experienced,” Marianna comments. For the lawyer, having the opportunity to engage in this exchange with the participation of the Foundations Prosecutor’s Office is even more positive, “as it strengthens the ecosystem of foundations and reaffirms the role of the MPRJ as the overseer of these institutions.”

Vanessa Costa congratulates the MPRJ, describing the initiative as an important moment for the creation of support networks among foundations. For the manager, with representatives gathered, it is possible to find solutions to common problems: “this way, it is possible to reach joint decision-making on issues that impact the daily operations of the foundations, and we also have the opportunity to align understandings on better practices from an integrity standpoint in our relationship with the ICTs,” she emphasized.
