Pic: Peter IliccievOn February 5, an agreement was signed between the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and Fiocruz, providing for the use of technologies from industry 4.0 in the production line of biological products of the Industrial Complex of Biotechnology in Health (CIBS). The alliance will make the center one of the most modern worldwide.
The negotiation, made with the participation of Fiotec's Project Initiation area, will have a total investment of R$ 2.47 million. This amount will be used to implement the digital transformation of vaccine and drug production processes at the New Final Processing Center for Immunobiological (NCPFI), the main building of CIBS, reducing the country's technological dependence.
The new complex will be located in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, on a plot of 580 thousand square meters. With the support of the Ministry of Health, the venture will be the Latin America’s largest center for the manufacture of biological products, increasing fourfold the final processing capacity of vaccines and biopharmaceuticals. The operation is expected to start in 2025.

The Ministry of Health (MS) and Fiocruz held a launching ceremony for an invitation for tender for the construction of the Industrial Complex of Biotechnology in Health (CIBS). The document opens a bidding process for hiring investors interested in participating in the construction of the Complex.
