During the fire at the Hospital Federal de Bonsucesso (HFB) on October 27, the board of the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectology (INI/Fiocruz) mobilized to carry out the transfer of dozens of patients who were hospitalized in hospital units threatened by the fire. The fire would have started in the warehouse, which is in the basement of the building.
The director of the Fiocruz unit, Valdiléia Veloso, states that 16 beds were provided, 12 of which were in the ICU, for the Regulation System. According to the director, a quick articulation allowed this number to increase, totaling 30 beds. In addition, INI/Fiocruz provided a truck with supplies for the HFB, together with transport respirators and ambulances to perform the transfers.
For Valdiléia, it was a very emotional moment: "It was very gratifying to see how the team endeavored to receive patients, provide emergency assistance.
