On February 3rd, Cristiane Sendim, director of Fiotec, was part of the opening table of the welcome session for PwD professionals at the Fiocruz Museum of Life. The event brought together the 20 professionals hired by Fiotec to work at the museum itself and was an opportunity to receive them in a welcoming space, encouraging the exchange of affection and experiences.
On the occasion, Cristiane demonstrated satisfaction with Fiotec’s contribution to a more inclusive environment within the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. "We really want to value all the people who are here. We are also expanding the staff of [the administration of] Fiotec, with the inclusion of people with various types of differences. This whole set of actions is necessary in our world, even more so at moment we’re going through", she emphasized.
Nercilene Monteiro, deputy director of Management and Institutional Development of the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC/Fiocruz) and advisor to Fiotec, was also at the table and stressed the importance of the moment. "We need you - hired professionals - in this work with us. It is not possible to do a job of inclusion and diversity if we do not have this representation and the work done exactly by you," he said.
In addition to Cristiane, the administrative director of Fiotec, Marcelo Amaral, and the managers of People and Communication, Raquel Raad and Janaina Campos, respectively, were at the event.
The hiring of professionals for the Museum of Life is part of a series of hires of People with Disabilities (PCD) that Fiotec will make to work at Fiocruz, in several units.
Reception at Ensp/Fiocruz
In the same week, Raquel Raad was at the event of the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (Ensp) to receive the group of 16 professionals who will be working at the unit. The meeting was marked by a dynamic in which everyone introduced themselves, sharing their name, training and a personal quality. This initial interaction provided a welcoming environment, promoting integration among the new members and highlighting the group's skills and trajectories.
On the occasion, a lecture was also given by Armando Nembri, writer and Fiocruz employee, who is deaf. In a presentation, Armando emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, stating that "diversity is in front of me when I look at everyone".
He highlihted that now that the team has become more diverse, the mission is to be equally inclusive, creating an environment where everyone can grow together and in unity. His speech highlighted that true inclusion is not limited to the presence of different people, but involves an effort to integrate and value each individual, contributing to collective development.
