On March 12th, Fiotec's Foreign Trade team held the first of three workshops aimed at Fiocruz professionals involved in projects managed by the institution. Wednesday's meeting brought together guests from Bio-Manguinhos and Farmanguinhos, as well as project analysts from Fiotec itself.
Throughout the morning, coordinator Elisângela Bevitori presented the history of Fiotec's Foreign Trade sector, which began in 2003. Almost two decades later, the team faced the emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which led the institution to carry out hitherto unprecedented import processes. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, Fiocruz's support foundation ranked second in terms of imports for national research, according to the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
Then it was Paulo Fernandes' turn to explain the processes of importing and exporting goods carried out by Fiotec to meet the needs of the projects developed by Fiocruz. The analyst went through the documentation required during the procedures, clarifying doubts about how to fill it in correctly and the necessary information. "Our idea is for them to get to know the processes, the parties involved and the necessary documents in more detail," the analyst said.
The presentation went on to show, in detail, the route taken by the goods imported and exported by Fiotec. The authorities involved, documentation and negotiations required. "It was very gratifying to see that, in addition to the high number of participants, we were able to answer important questions and build bridges with other professionals. I believe that dialogues like this are fundamental to the development of ever better work, especially with regard to the technicalities of foreign trade," says Paulo.
Also in March, the second workshop will bring together professionals from the Fernandes Figueira Institute (IFF/Fiocruz), the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC), the Institute of Science and Technology in Biomodels (ICTB/Fiocruz) and the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INI/Fiocruz). In April, it will be the turn of the teams from the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (Ensp/Fiocruz), the National Institute for Quality Control in Health (INCQS/Fiocruz), as well as the Foundation's Presidency and Vice Presidencies.
