On September 27th, Fiotec held the Libras Workshop, given by UniLibras, in celebration of the National Deaf Day (9/26). During the event, Jessica Terra and Everson de Castro, together with two interpreters, spoke about the Brazilian Sign Language and its importance for inclusion.

The speakers gave a brief overview of the history of language in Brazil, the struggle faced by the deaf community to this day and the differences in sign language from one country/region to another. From the concepts of hands configuration, point of articulation, movement, body and facial expressions, and the directions and orientations, the collaborators present could learn the formation of Libras in practice.

One of the points addressed in the lecture was the inclusion of people with hearing impairment in the job market, so Fiotec deaf professionals were able to share their experiences and personal difficulties.

At the end of the lecture there was a brief language workshop, with the participation of all, teaching the basic greetings, the alphabet and numbers, as well as some curiosities on the subject.

Fiotec is committed to promoting the inclusion of people with deafness through various internal actions and the Conviver program, a project that began in 2016.
