At the invitation of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MP/RJ), Fiotec was present at another event that debated Tax Reform, the Legal Framework for Science, Technology and Innovation, and how these changes can influence the work done by support foundations and research institutions. The Foundational Law Panel, promoted by the Department of Education and Culture of the Brazilian Army (Decex), brought together experts for a morning of debates at the Copacabana Fort (RJ), on November 7.

The event officially opened with speeches by Lílian Cabral, lieutenant of Decex, and Jorge Augusto Cacho, division general and director of the Army's Historical and Cultural Heritage. Then, the prosecutor of the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories, José Eduardo Sabo, led an opening lecture.

The Foundational Law Panel, the main moment of the program, was moderated by the attorney and former dean of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Antônio Celso Pereira. The table brought together the head prosecutor of the 1st Ombudsman of Foundations of the Capital, José Marinho; Augusto Nepomuceno, lawyer specialized in Foundational Law; Ana Flávia Leite, executive vice president of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra Foundation; in addition to Marianna Camargo, attorney and legal manager of Fiotec.

For the manager of the Fiocruz Support Foundation, it is always necessary to value the spaces and events in which the impacts of the tax reform on the work done by the foundations are discussed. She points out that although the maintenance of tax immunity for these institutions is guaranteed, there are other aspects that can directly impact support for scientific, technological and innovation research in the country.

The event ended with the certification of the panelists and the registration of an official photo at Campo de Marte.
