Fiotec and Fiocruz are supporting, through the Plan of Combat Against Covid-19 in Favelas, Casa Reviver, which, in partnership with the project “Sempre Criança”, promotes supportive actions for the Morro do Estado community, the biggest of the city of Niterói. Casa Reviver acts in Niterói since 2006, incorporated to the IDE (Institute of Development), an NGO that acts in this location.

The project participated in the public notice in 2020 as well, aiming to ensure food security for several families of the region. In addition to this work, surveys regarding the community’s economic activities during the pandemic are also conducted and text material with information to prevent the virus is distributed, in order to fight against disinformation and infodemic.

The actions offered by the institution to assist the families are of a social and educational nature and take place out of school hours to assist the community’s kids and their families. The activities cover areas of theater, circus, story circles with ethical principles, sports, visits to live theaters, movie theaters and cultural events, aiming to develop the talents hidden by the lack of opportunity.

Plan of Combat Against Covid-19 in Favelas

The call for proposals aims to fund projects throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro that contribute to broaden the social participation in the territorial-based health surveillance within the state’s communities, reducing the impact generated by the Covid-19 pandemic in these places.

Out of 270 registered projects in total, 41 have been approved with the amount of R$ 4,500,000.00 for the immediate start of actions.
