Gateway to care in the public health network, Primary Care is responsible, according to studies, for solving up to 80% of the population's health demands. To improve health care, the Health Department launched, on Tuesday (24), the Program of Qualification of Primary Health Care (PHC), Qualis PHC - action aimed at strengthening the Family Health Strategy.

“The goal is to consolidate the program in DF, making assessments and certifications of teams, to offer the best to the population. Important partnerships were signed in this qualification process which, supported by the governor's guidelines, aim to provide knowledge, infrastructure and personnel training, to achieve sustainable health and humanized care ”, said the Secretary of Health, Osnei Okumoto.

The program, as explained by the holder of the portfolio, seeks to strengthen and qualify the management and services provided in PHC of the Federal District, articulating actions of evaluation, training, improvement and communication strategies, based on quality standards built in a participatory manner.

Qualis PHC has an evaluation phase of 600 teams - including oral health services. In addition, it aims to train 160 Health Secretariat professionals in the Specialization Course on Family Health Strategy Management and offer training for 2,200 professionals in the portfolio.

“The impact of the program will be to highlight the difficulties and bring clarity to the problems, so that managers and servers can plan and improve the actions of integral health care teams,” added the Director of Family Health Strategy, José Eudes Barroso Vieira.

The program is a partnership between the Department of Health, University of Brasilia (UnB), Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) and the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development in Health (Fiotec).

During the launch, Health partners were unanimous in highlighting that Qualis PHC seeks to enable the population with quality and resolute care, being organized as close as possible to the needs and reality of the population of the DF. "The program is purposeful for the health of the DF and actions can bring sustainable health," added the director of Fiocruz Brasilia, Fabiana Damásio.

To the director of the Faculty of Medicine of UnB, Gustavo Romero, “It is a privilege for the university to be part of this partnership, because the program is a work done by several hands, which aims to qualify, with the participation of managers, caregivers and the community."

The primary care of the Federal District has 172 UBS, 594 Family Health Strategy teams, seven prison teams, 51 Family Health Support Centers, three Street Clinics and a coverage of 69.5% of the population.
