Fiotec is responsible for the financial management and accountability when it comes to the expenses of the program created to enhance Fiocruz actions against the new coronavirus pandemic. Its goal is to create a network of supportive partners, uniting the public and private spheres. The amounts donated to the fund have enabled several initiatives to fight Covid-19, such as studies aimed at possible treatments and the conduction of mass diagnostic tests. The production by the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos) of the vaccine developed by Oxford University in partnership with AstraZeneca is the latest destination of donations made to the program.
