On October, twelve teenagers from the communities in the Manguinhos region were welcomed at Fiotec by the directors and managers of different areas of the institution. The professionals took up the challenge to explain, in a didactic and dynamic manner, how their teams’ work fits in the daily process of the Fiocruz support foundation.

These visitors are part of the initiative “The Workshop of the Entrepreneur”, one of the lines of a Fiocruz project which aims to contribute to educate children and teenagers from the area of Manguinhos, a neighboring region to the Foundation, on citizenship matters. The participants enjoy classes on entrepreneurship, computing, vocation and qualification.

“Growing with Manguinhos”, dedicated to children with activities such as Action and Creation, The World and I, Space Now and Study Groups, together with the line “Opportunity for Adults”, focused on older people and including a Computer Course, Entrepreneur Double Set, Art Workshop and Physical Activity, are the other two lines of the project. The main purpose of all these initiatives is to contribute to the creation of new prospects for the population of Manguinhos, promoting, on the basis of Human Rights, educational and social inclusion actions.   

Through projects like this one, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) reaffirms its commitment to be in direct contact with the communities surrounding its headquarters, actively contributing to the development of such population.
